The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and managing key distributor and retail relationships. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of the FMCG sector, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in executing sales strategies that deliver measurable results.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales Strategy & Execution-

  • Develop and implement effective sales plans and targets by region, product, and channel.
  • Track and monitor sales performance, ensuring the team meets or exceeds sales targets.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of Sales Executives or Representatives across assigned territories.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, training, and mentoring to improve sales competencies.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key distributors, wholesalers, supermarkets, and retail outlets.
  • Negotiate trade terms, pricing structures, and promotional agreements.

Market Development

  • Identify new business opportunities, market trends, and competitor activities.
  • Collaborate with marketing to execute promotions, product launches, and trade activations.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts, market feedback, and business intelligence reports.
  • Monitor inventory levels, product availability, and supply chain alignment with sales plans.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Liaise with logistics, finance, and production departments to ensure smooth sales operations and customer satisfaction.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of proven sales experience in the FMCG sector, preferably beverages.
  • Strong knowledge of the Lagos retail landscape (both open markets and modern trade).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a field team.
  • Proficiency in using CRM tools, MS Office (especially Excel), and sales tracking systems.
  • Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and willing to travel within Lagos.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience launching or scaling a new FMCG brand in Nigeria.
  • Experience managing sales targets in both GT (General Trade) and MT (Modern Trade).

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong network of existing distributors and retail partners in Lagos.
  • Ability to create actionable sales plans aligned with company goals.
  • Managing key distributor and retail accounts with consistency and care.
  • Understanding how to enter new markets or deepen presence in existing ones
